How to hide a cube dimension (PDF)

Note: This is an old article.  However, some tips may still apply to newer versions.

Introduction

The attached document describes how to hide a dimension in a cube. This is especially relevant if dimensions have been added solely for drill-through purposes. By hiding the dimension one can ensure that the front-end user does not by mistake drag a large drill-through dimension into a query which may subsequently bring the OLAP server to a standstill.

Thanks to Lars Rasmussen for this description.

I added this code exactly as described but the dimension (which is used for a referenced dimension) stays visible.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Tobias.

Is not easier to expose the visibility property of the dimension in the cube?

    Next version ? :)
